EP - Finally done and FULLY downloadable!

Hey folks,

Been a WHILE since a post, but things are still alive in Kevala world. After mid August saw the summer school term come to an end, we got our acts together and finished the EP once and for all! Check out the revamped (but still incomplete) website to listen to it in full:

http://www.kevalamusic.com/

Also available for download is a full EP package that includes album art and lyrics to the songs.

So, if you've been wondering what's been going on since Jim left, the honest answer is not a whole lot. However, we've taken some time to regroup, re-think our goals, and establish what we are musically, without Jim; and I'm happy to say the future looks bright! If our latest rehearsals are any indication, the new sound is different, but as rockin' as ever. We're cooking up some new material, revamping some old goodies, and hope to be playing shows sooner rather than later.

Cross your fingers...

All good things must come to an end

Hey Folks

Jimbo here. Many of you have probably heard that I am currently in Alberta and that at the end of the summer I will be heading to South Korea for a year. Although this opportunity is friggin amazing, unfortunately it means that I have to leave Kevala.

I have talked it over with the other guys and I'm pretty sure they understand my situation. We had a final rehearsal last week and just jammed out the songs one last time (for me anyway). It was awesome to have that one last chance without the pressures of an upcoming show or recording.

It has been an honour to make music with Mark, Darren, Steve and Roop. These four guys are really unbelievable and all have unique styles and philosophies that have rubbed off on me. I can say with confidence that the music I made with Kevala was the most engaging, sohisticated and pleasing music that I've ever been a part of. It was great to play with Darren and Mark for a year and a half and Steve and Roop for about five years.

I hope to maintain a relationship with Kevala in the future. I will definitely be their biggest spokesperson because I think the four of them are truly blessed. In fact, a few times over the past year we all felt that the music was a little too cluttered and heavy. Perhaps my departure will open it up a little bit and provide more space. I know that Kevala has clear and definite goals and hopefully as a foursome they will be able to achieve them.

I wish you guys all the best and thanks for ignoring my wrong notes
Jim

Live @ Journo, May 12th!

Hey guys,

This is the official (and offically late) gig announcement for our gig this Saturday...

LIVE at Journo Café (as part of the Coarse Grind series)
Saturday, May 12th
9pm - 12am
327 King St. West, Toronto

Podcast Time - Number TWO!

Ok, so I promised it within a week, and this is almost two, which makes me nothing short of a failure. But alas, it's finally here! The second official Kevala podcast. We recorded this a while back, but the best before date isn't even approaching so it's all good.

One of the suggestions people had from the last podcast was to increase the volume of the banter in between the songs. I've done that, and it's a lot better, but that random volume boosting might make it sound like the thing is edited all over the place - believe me it's not. Hehe... you'll see for yourself. Enjoy!!

This and that... with Rusty

Hello world.

I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted. I more than dropped the ball. I threw it to the ground. With great vengeance and furious anger. Sorry about that.

----------------------

I'm going to make some promises. And I know most people would be in agreeance (yeah, I said agreeance, jealous?) if we changed the band name from 'Kevala' to 'The Empty Promises Quintet', but bear with me...

Promise #1 - We will have a second podcast up withing a week. This podcast has been recorded for quite some time, but due to some technical problems / laziness it hasn't been released yet. Look for that SOON...

Promise #2 - Anuroop will throng at least thrice within the next 24 hours. This is a no-brainer, and I'm not worried at all about coming through with this one.

Promise #3 - We will be playing a gig (yay!) on Saturday, May 12th @ the 'Journo' café, in downtown Toronto. This gig will be interesting due to the unique venue if nothing else. Look for an official upcoming gig post before then, with more details.

Promise #4 - The EP that nobody actually believes exists, is still in the works. I'm not gonna drop any dates (somebody once said December 13th - nice going Markus) but believe me we want it done as well. No lie, we almost lost the entire thing last week due to massive hard drive failure. Which brings me to my lesson of the day: large speakers + external hard drives = almost shitting your pants. Write that down.

----------------------

Since there's been no post since the Tampa Taps gig... thanks so much to everyone who came out! The gig was a huge huge huge success. We had a great time, you guys apparently had a good time. The feedback was very positive so thanks for that. Thanks also to Tranquil for inviting us, and as soon as everyone is done with exams and all that ish, we hope to do another one really soon!

Alright, that's all for me, you guys have been great. Take care.

Steve

Podcast Time!

.....

Hopefully this will be our 'get out of getting your ass kicked free' card from our fans.

Here is the first of what will be many Kevala Podcasts.

These are essentially short, live sets recorded- you guessed it- live off the floor. For those who haven't heard us in a while, there are a couple of new songs to check out, as well as some you might already be familiar with. These are recorded in a 'rehearsal' type setting, in that all ridiculous band chatter is included in these mp3s.

And to those who haven't ever been to a show, or even heard us...what the hell are you doing here? And thanks for stopping by...

It's cool stuff boys and girls..

download....sit back, and enjoy. Hatemail is welcome.

check it: Kevala Podcast 1 (Right Click, Save as)

OH and the EP is going to be available for download in about 2 weeks! (we're not lying)
